Around 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, producing powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.

Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Broad Destruction

Homeowners witnessed giant hailstones measuring up to 7 centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by significant hail.

Rescue organizations received over five hundred requests for assistance across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and flooding.

At the height on yesterday, over 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were without power.

Climate Outlook

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.

Tuesday was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued storm activity anticipated across multiple regions of both areas.

Safety Concern

Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
