Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
