It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was underway.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as captain.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
